One of the things I do is build video games.
Well, I start building video games, and never finish. This is something I have done for as long as I can remember. I got my first computer when I was about 11, a Vic-20, and immediately taught myself how to program in basic and make games.
One of my goals for 2009 is to actually finish a game. I have two ideas I’m currently working on that I am most taken by at the moment (in 6 months, who knows?). I have code written and some very very basic stuff working for both of these ideas. I’m going to start putting together some design ideas in the form of game walkthroughs (as if the games actually worked). This format will allow me to capture and convey the type of game experience I want to put together. I’m making these games for me, because I want to play them. I have no illusions about being able to sell them or make any money (although the trend lately towards “Indy” games is encouraging).
